Happy Birthday to me

Last November 23, I turned 15.. and it is in the same day that we had our TDR in CAF.. some thought it could be lucky..
I found it sort of lucky..we had some good comments in our TDR, everyone greeted us 'good luck' and some or everyone greeted me 'happy birthday'..
i think, now that i'm 15.. i work hard more..i need to "wake up more".. 1 year more to go and i'm off to college which is really fast..
i don't know if i could say 'goodbye' to Assumption-Iloilo yet..
so right now.. i'm not counting the days.. i'm making the days count.. :))

BIDA: Be The Change: a youth camp(day 1-AM)

Last August 12-13, 2011(Friday-Saturday), CEAP's event was an unforgettable experience. First, I can't imagine myself being a facilitator of 40-50 people of different schools & places of Region 6. When we(facis) first arrived their at nearly 6:30 am, we've discovered that De Paul College is really an old school. It has been standing for a long time, and it now ends.
The facis, as they would call it, were divided since we're 25. We counted off using the alphabet. I was assigned in the H group or barangay. Each of the facis are called Barangay Captain and the barangay that was assigned to us was our in our hands to care of. We need to facilitate them on what they will be doing. That's why we already know what to do because we did the Bidahan a week before the main Bidahan event. It's really hard & now, I know what the teachers feel when they facilitate.
As we arrived there(facis), after sometime, students were arriving in cars & a lot of buses. We started to guide them on what to do first. We asked them if they had registered & if they did, we will direct them to their rooms. Carolyn & I were very busy. We went to the 3rd floor them back from the ground floor them back to the 2nd floor up to the other building. We had no more time to welcome our classmates. After we had that very busy time we found ourselves going to the facilitators room and the room of our classmates(which was nice by the way because we did not share with any school). We talked and shared a lot of experiences.

Types of Friendship(2)

Types of Friendship(2)

Types of Friendship(2)

Types of Friendship

1. Professional Friends – This group is for professional networking. At the beginning of the relationship, most of the conversations are about topics of mutual interest in specific professions, and then it can gradually take a more personal turn. In this friendship, the expectation is to learn, exchange information, ideas, concepts and grow professionally. A lot of these friendships are formed in professional organizations like Economic Club of New York, Project Management Institute, and 100 Women in Hedgefunds. Most of these relationships grow deeper when both individuals can provide professional expertise and insights. We can find these friends at workplace also. Sometimes, they take the form of mentors, or someone we can count on in future. As we grow professionally, this group tends to increase more. This is where professional and business etiquette must be practiced.
2. Social Friends – This group of friendship is formed in social service clubs like Rotary International, Lions Clubs, and Kiwanis International. This group is conscious about social issues and also wants to network in a less formal setting than the professional friends circle. This group of friends volunteers their time, money and efforts to work on social causes, and get public recognition for the same. The budding professionals can take leadership roles to take and execute responsibilities, and to promote and sell their skills. We can also find a group like this in major corporations like Asian Heritage Network group of Citigroup.
3. Deep/Emotional Friends - Friends in this group are very few. This group of friends tends to have an intellectual appetite, but usually have perceived and experienced life through various relationships. This friends group will be there to support us during the ups and downs of life. Sometimes, we can find these friendships between married women, mother and daughter, close sisters. These are the friends who we will grow old with.
4. Intellectual Friends – This group has a very curious and intellectual mindset. We can talk about anything without being embarrassed. Friends in this group are very few. The difference between the Emotional and Intellectual friends is that the latter understand situations logically without mixing feelings. Usually this group of friends is considerate, matured, well-developed and have their own fulfilled lives. Sometimes, these groups of friends are so busy in their own pursuits and quests of life that they might not be able to offer the time, but when they do, it is mutually fulfilling.
5. Self-Actualized Friends – Friends in this group are the perfect combination and are very rare to find. These friends have an amazing appetite for intellectual conversation, are open to discuss about life experiences, take care of their own needs, have less complaints about life in general and respect others views of life. In addition to that, they will love to invest time to grow emotionally, professionally, intellectually, socially, and spiritually, know how to laugh and enjoy life also. These friends will not try to change others, but will appreciate and respect the differences. Probably, we will grow old with this group of friends. The friends in this group volunteer to give us feedback and advice about different aspects of life, not only because they care about us, but want positive things to happen in our lives.
6. Buddy Friends – This is a very informal group of friends, who meet informally to have a great time together. A lot of Meet Up groups fall under this category. This is the group who are usually college students, high school students, and singles. These friends usually go to the clubs, bars, happy hours, discos. There is not much intellectual connection, professional connection, because the people in this group still does not have the need to explore more serious matters of life, or might not feel the comfort to seek advice on any issues.
7. School Friends (Memory Revisiting) – There are a lot of friends in this group. If we have not kept in touch, most of them are acquaintances at this stage. Most likely we have changed, since we last saw them and they have changed also. We will meet them at reunions, alumni events. Most of the conversations are nostalgic and about the “good old days.”

Florante at Laura

Florante at Laura (English: Florante and Laura) by Francisco Baltazar (more famously known as Francisco Balagtas) is considered as one of the masterpieces of Philippine literature. Balagtas wrote the epic(although its main characters don't possess any extraordinary powers or abilities) during his imprisonment. The work itself is dedicated to María Asuncion Rivera, his sweetheart, whom he nicknamed "M. A. R." and is referenced to as "Selya" in the dedication "Kay Selya" ("For Celia"). Maria Asuncion Rivera was later married to Balagtas' rival, Mariano Capule, who later made false charges against him.

Plot

In the Albanian forest

The story begins deep within a dark, gloomy forest. Florante, a duke of the Kingdom of Albania is tied to a tree, lamenting the death of his father, Duke Briseo. He is driven mad by the thought that his beloved, Princess Laura, has fallen into the arms of his enemy, Count Adolfo, son of Count Sileno. Nearby, two starving lions keep watch and try to attack Florante. He is saved, just in time, by Aladin, a Muslim prince who happens to be at the forest at the same time. Weak and bewildered, Florante faints.

The merciful soldier nurses Florante to health. Upon recovery, Florante is initially taken back by Aladin who he considers as an enemy due to his Islamic faith. After a few explanations are made, however, Florante is grateful and begins to tell his story.

Florante's tale

The son of a princess and a royal adviser, Florante grew up in happiness, showered with love. He liked to play games when he was six, and was almost killed by a vulture that entered in their mountain cottage, which was also followed by the attack of a falcon, who snatched his cupid diamond. He was saved by his cousin Menalipo, an archer from Epirus.

At the early age of 11, his parents, Duke Briseo and Princess Floresca, sent him to Athens, Greece to study under Antenor, a renowned teacher. There, he met Adolfo, a fellow countryman, the brightest student in their school. After 6 years of study, Florante surpassed Adolfo's capabilities, talents and intelligence, gaining popularity.

While acting during a school play, Adolfo attempted to kill Florante. Fortunately, Florante’s friend, Menandro, was quick enough to intervene. Adolfo headed home to Albania after his failed attempt. One year later, Florante received a letter from his father, announcing the death of his mother.

Though filled with grief, Florante waited two months before he returned home. Menandro, unwilling to be separated from him, accompanied him on his journey. Upon his arrival to Albania, an emissary of the kingdom of Crotone requested his assistance in the incoming war against the Persians. Florante had not the will to refuse, for the King of Crotone was his grandfather.

During his stay in Albania, Florante was invited to the king's palace. There, he was stunned by the sight of Laura, the daughter of King Linseo, ruler of Albania.

Coming to the aid of Crotone, Florante fought with the Persian general, Osmalik for 5 hours, finally slaying him in the end. He stayed in Crotone for 5 months before returning to Albania to see Laura. He was surprised by the sight of a Persian flag waving atop the kingdom. He recaptured the palace and saved his father, the king, and Adolfo. He also saved Laura from being beheaded from the hands of an Emir. He was declared “Defender of Albania” for his bravery, deepening Adolfo’s envy and hatred.

Florante protected the kingdom, once more, from the Turkish forces, under general Miramolin, an acclaimed conqueror. This took place in Aetolia, where he later received a letter from his father. The letter summoned him back to Albania. He left his troops in the care of his friend, Menandro. Upon returning, he was ambushed by 30,000 soldiers under Adolfo’s orders and was imprisoned for 18 days. There, he learned of the tragic fate of his father and the king. Under Adolfo’s hands, they were beheaded. Florante was then exiled into the forest and tied to the tree. “Never allow someone to be your priority while allowing yourself to be their option”

Aladin's Tale

After months of wandering in the forest, the Persian, Aladin shares that he is also in a similar circumstance.
Sultan Ali-Adab accused his own son, Aladin, of leaving his troops and allowing his conquered enemy to be recaptured. He arranged for his son to be beheaded. Flerida, very much in love with Aladin, begged the Sultan not to kill, but merely exile his son. In return, Flerida agreed to marry the Sultan, who was very taken with her.

Reunion and Peace

Aladin’s speech is interrupted when they hear voices. A woman narrates her escape from a kingdom and a marriage. She speaks of her search for her beloved, a search which lasted 6 years. She shares that while deep in the forest, she heard cries for help. Finding a lady about to be raped by a man, she uses her bow and arrow to kill him. The woman introduces herself as Flerida.

The lady saved by Flerida is revealed to be Laura, who begins to tell her story. While her love was away at war, Count Adolfo gained the popularity of the people, having lied to them and turned them against the king. Count Adolfo then rose to the throne, forcing Laura to be his queen. An army under Menandro, Florante's childhood friend, was able to overthrow Adolfo from power. Adolfo, seeing all was lost, fled into the woods, taking Laura as hostage.

After hearing all this, Florante and Aladin reunite with their loved ones. Florante and Laura returned to Albania, and became king and queen. Aladin and Flerida returned to Persia, where Aladin became the new sultan as his father died due to depression and extreme sadness because Flerida had left him alone in Persia. Aladin and Flerida had been baptised. The two kingdoms lived in harmony and peace.

June 6 (for the month of June)

June 6 marks the starting of 2011-2012 school year. When I woke up that morning, I was really excited but at the same time scared. The St. Anne's Hall was filled with high school students both new and old. Boys were seriously there, but a majority of it was the girls. Right now, I just can't still believe that Assumption-Iloilo is co-ed. I still adjusting of the new surrounding and new people.
Yr. 3 St. John, I never expected that I would be in this section. But I have to adjust to it.
I'm really confused of why the 3rd year classrooms were in the 2nd floor. While the 1st year classrooms were in the ground floor. Also, II-St. Anne and II-St. Elizabeth exchanged. I mean, what's the purpose of it?

still confused

May 21 (for the month of May)

There were some people who said that the end of the world is on May 21. I saw signs also. I was really scared when May 21 came. I was not yet ready. Then when I slept during the night, I really prayed that wherever I may be I will be in good hands. But then then, the next morning when I woke up, I was surprised that I was still alive. So eccentric of those people who said that May 21 is the end of the world. Only God knows and nobody else.

March for Life 2

The March for Life 2 was held last March 17,2011. We all gathered in The Freedom Grandstand. So many students of different schools. After the discussion, a mass was held. But a few did not attend the mass. Meanwhile, one of the schools presented a skit on when life begins. We found it funny, but we understood what they were trying to present. :)

March for Life

Last March 5, 2011, we were invited to join the "March for Life" in Jaro. All the student waited in De Paul school for the march. After the march, we had a mass with Auxiliary Bishop Alminaza. After the mass, we left because it was almost 4pm and it's getting late.

Ajuy Fieldtrip

Last February 25 2011, the second year(2nd yr) learners went to Ajuy,Iloilo. Specifically in Camp Regulus and Gawad Kalinga.

Taking the trip from Iloilo city to Ajuy was really, really, really, really long. It took us like 2-3 hours to get to Ajuy with stop-overs. We experienced a lot of obstacles when we went up the mountainous mountain. It was really a great experienced although it was quite difficult to climb.
After a short day with Camp regulus, we went straight ahead to Gawad Kalinga. We were really shoked beacuse they were the ones who offerred us food(plus water) for free. Our field trip was really a double-purpose.
It was like a field trip and our second(2nd interaction). We met a lot of people that day. Different kinds.

Baloons

A balloon is an inflatable flexible bag filled with a gas, such as helium, hydrogen, nitrous oxide, oxygen, or air. Modern balloons can be made from materials such as rubber, latex, polychloroprene, or a nylon fabric, while some early balloons were made of dried animal bladders[citation needed]. Some balloons are used for decorative purposes, while others are used for practical purposes such as ,meteorology, ,medical treatment, military defense, or transportation. A balloon's properties, including its low density and low cost, have led to a wide range of applications. The inventor of the rubber balloon, (the most common balloon) was Michael Faraday in 1824, via experiments with various gases.

St. Valentine

Saint Valentine (in Latin, Valentinus) is the name of several martyred saints of ancient Rome. The name "Valentine", derived from valens (worthy, strong, powerful), was popular in Late Antiquity. Of the Saint Valentine whose feast is on February 14, nothing is known except his name and that he was buried at the Via Flaminia north of Rome on February 14. It is even uncertain whether the feast of that day celebrates only one saint or more saints of the same name. For this reason this liturgical commemoration was not kept in the Catholic calendar of Saints for universal liturgical veneration as revised in 1969.  But "Martyr Valentinus the Presbyter and those with him at Rome" remains in the list of saints proposed for veneration by all Catholics.
In theEastern Orthodox Church, Saint Valentine the Presbyter is celebrated on July 6,and Hieromartyr Saint Valentine (Bishop of Interamna, Terni in Italy) is celebrated on July 30. Notwithstanding that, conventionally, members of the Greek Orthdox Church named Valentinos (male) or Valentina (female) celebrate their name on February 14, according to the Typikon of the Great Church of Christ (Τυπικὸν τῆς Μεγάλης τοῦ Χριστοῦ ᾽Εκκλησίας) Saint Valentine is not venerated not on July 6, nor on July 30. In fact, there exists no Saint Valentine in the Greek Orthodox Church.

Intramurals 2011 Day 1

The first day of Intramurals 2011 was very intense, since we had the pep core. It was very difficult for us to make a mistake because almost everybody knows that we are really prepared for it. Mr. Pedroso was really expecting a big thing from us. He made us practice the whole presentation in 4 days.
During the day, I had some conflicts because I joined two events. One was Soccer Kickball and the other one was Ethnic Dance. I have a game, at the same time, I have to attend dance practice. I divide myself in to two?! That's why I chise to do play Soccer Kickball first since it's really important to me(my first major game). In the end of the game, we lost because we lacked time for practice.

Preparation for Intramurals 2011

This January 2011, the students of Assumption-Iloilo form grade 4 to year 4 are preparing for the intramurals. It will be held on January 19-21 2011. It is really busy because we have a declamation to memorize for our CAF project and an Interaction in Zarraga (S.O.S Children). We need to stay up to 5:30 pm for the dance practice which all of the members of the tribe will be doing. We really had a hard time because we were called "back-up dancers" (tribe a-manasseh) . So we think we will have less movements in our dance. But no, it isn't. It is really very tiring because we did almost everything.
